Mr D(Porsche 911R) gone AWOL.....

As the title suggests i've just noticed Mr D hasn't posted in the last few weeks..Anyone know what happened to him as i found his rather acerbic style of posting very entertaining and sometimes brilliantly educational..
Yes, and I have to say, it's been a far nicer place in his absence. He's doubtless flounced off (as he has done on numerous occasions previously) in protest at getting as good as he all too frequently gave on here of late. I wouldn't fret too much, I've no doubt he'll be back soon enough.
But in all seriousness, whilst you may find his "acerbic style of posting very entertaining and sometimes brilliantly educational", many, perhaps even the majority ? have grown weary of it, and thus are far less enthusiastic about his frequently binary, oft contrary, usually misguided, opinionated, biased and more often than not downright inaccurate ramblings and rants.
The last time he flounced off, he returned several weeks later saying he had clinical depression brought on by other contributors on here being nasty to him. Lack of self awareness springs to mind ...
When you meet him he's a totally different chap to what's portrayed here. He's usually having a little giggle on here at everyone else's expense, thinking he's serious.
Some others here are seriously belligerent. They're the ones I find tiresome. They're always right and know everything as a fact, not their opinion.

I like him.
Colourful character. More interested in enjoying his cars than sitting in his counting house
That's exactly why i started this thread..He has an unique character and personally i rather enjoyed reading his posts..I found them funny and to be fair he never made personal insults unlike some others i could mention.Colourful character. More interested in enjoying his cars than sitting in his counting house
Some other posters on here are much too quick to build up a detailed psychological analysis on people they've never met..At least Mr D really enjoyed his cars as i do..

The reason for the two track days that many of us including you and Steve are coming to, is to put some names to faces and have an enjoyable social gathering. I think it will be beneficial for the forum to do this, I'm looking forward to meeting folks I'd not had the pleasure of meeting before like you Taffy.
I hope Porsche911R does come along to the days as he's indicated.

I’m not surprised he’s not on here any more...some of the reactions to his posts have got out of hand with several people seemingly all wanting to join in the “fun” and berate him. The opportunity to absuse sometimes seems to be more important to people than debating the point under discussion. If someone disagrees with what another poster has written that’s fair enough, that’s part of the debate....but when people just join in with personal abuse then I personally think it’s gone too far.

You Cheib and RSVP are both true gentlemen IMO and lead by example by always being polite and courteous. You are never judgmental and insulting about what others may have posted with sardonic humour taken wildly out of context.Sometimes like MrD i'll post something controversial with dry humour, intended to liven up a dull thread..
Perhaps he's decided to advise parliament on how to resolve THEIR Brexit deadlock ? couldn't do a worse job than that shower of s
t. or perhaps he's on holiday. either way, he's very welcome here, it takes all sorts pn a public forum and I for one appreciate being told I am mistaken in ordering a GT3 without a wing. someone needs to tell me after all !

I’ve met him in person and chatted to him a couple of times. As others have said (as have I on numerous occasions) the keyboard warrior is clearly his obnoxious alter ego, because face to face he’s unassuming, polite, pleasant and personable. And I’ve never said otherwise. But I do struggle to reconcile his online persona/manners with the individual himself. As for not throwing insults, well "sticks and stones" and all that, but he’s variously accused me and another well regarded contributor on here of being drug addicts and alcoholics when we frequently posted after midnight .... really quite bizarre behaviour.
As I've said to him on numerous occasions previously, play nice and others will play nicely too. Be obnoxious, abrasive and downright rude, and you can expect the same back from those that choose not to ignore such behaviour.
Edit to add :
It's very clear he polarises opinion like no one else on here !!
And I'll reiterate what I've said before, I admire his passion for the marque, and in all honesty, this forum could do with (and would be a better place for) having more like-minded individuals, rather than the spec/badge jockies and "investors" that seem to be the staple posters of recent years. David just needs to think/moderate what he posts occasionally.Edited by Slippydiff on Tuesday 2nd April 18:00
