Car been on ramp today for mot. While it was up I had a quick nosey around & found signs of oil. Any thoughts on what the problem could be and the solution please.?

Looks like classic RMS leak from between rear of block and bell housing. Monitor until you need a clutch would be my advise.

Thanks. The car is tiptronic so as far as I know it doesn’t have a clutch... or does it? 😕 is this a big job? Is it a common problem? Thanks.

Requires the removal of the gearbox so not a cheap fix and yes a common fault. Most I have seen weep a little like yours with no ill effects. They never really leak enough to drip so I wouldn't worry to much.

most probably RMS indeed. I would have get it fixed asap, if it's a daily. I hate oil leak, especially sport/performance car should not lose any oil imho.

Tiptronic cars require engine and transmission out to inspect/replace the rear main or intermediate flange seals. If its dripping get it done; if it's a mist that has built up over time then it's not too serious.

Check the coolant pipes around the engine/transmission if they have begun to corrode then that is another job that can be factored in at the same time.
