Those bi-colour seats look fantastic OP.

I've had a few Mercs and some BMWs, but a Jaguar is definitely on my bucket list (so long as it's RWD).

Yes, almost half the the distance is crossing Germany; some of the route is entirely unrestricetd, and it's rare to be baulked when overtaking.

Looks fantastic. I have a couple of friends who own or have owned XFRs and they have all loved them and found them to be remarkably trouble free for a 500bhp super saloon; a much less terrifying prospect than an out of warranty M5 for example.

I was just thinking that the only replacement that springs to mind is an XJ Supersport or XJR. Odd that they never put a V8 in the current XF, but that's as half arsed an effort at a car as it's possible to get I think.

I've always look at these from afar, theyre quite unassuming which is the charm I suppose.

What are they like to run? Servicing reasonable? Any big bills or known issues?

Brilliant cars. I love mine and am reluctantly selling it as I've now got an M3. But they are very difficult to replace and I was not looking to do so. Right M3 came up a little earlier than i anticipated so I had to buy that while it was for sale. The XFR will be missed.

Had a few bits on mine around 95k miles including cam chain tensioners and SC snout and water pump. The pump and the snout I did at home. The water pump is 30 mins, the snout a bit more involved but can be done.

The tensioners I got done by Jag specialist in Notts, £2k all in using OEM Jag parts, been fine since.Other than that routing servicing for £115k miles and nothing on my XFR (which I did 72k miles in).

Interestingly the XJ felt more sporty to me than the XFR, somehow lighter on its feet and the SC whine is more prominent than on the XF. XFR seats were ace though!

I hate to think how much ive spent on fuel.........

The xf doesn't really have a bad angle whereas the xj looks great from some angles (rear 6 quarter, low down) but awkward from others, the xf is a little less exciting than the xj on the design front, which has its ups and downs! . I think the interior is much much better in the xj with the exception of the seats, miss the R seats very much. I have the bowers and Wilkins too, which I think is 1400 watts, mental.

I've had it over 5 years now which is a record for me but every time I come to replacement I just end back with another xj, so end up keeping it! I think I need to get on and change it next year as I do 20k miles a year and need to have a reliable car but the old girl keeps chugging on.

It is a bit big though, often look back at it thinking how badly I've parked it but then realise it just doesn't fit in spaces, at least the xf is a manageable size!
