I must say I don't understand quite how this works but here goes.

At present Porsche are taking a 'small' deposit ie £3k for the TTS. Prices, spec and release date tbc.

Neither the OPC I bought my 991 TTS from nor my local OPC can promise me an early car. My local OPC who I rung today said they may not he able to fulfill my order full stop. Obviously I realise that some of this might be marketing BS.

Is it possible to have deposits with more than one OPC to increase your chances? Since the TTS deposits aren't full securing deposits could one potentially agree that it would be refundable if car couldn't be a certain date?

Thanks

Multi depositing for a TTS should be ok.

Your deposit is fully refundable for whatever reason up to when the spec freezes or locks.

I think the reason you’ll find you can’t get an early car is some people have had a deposit on one for over a year , myself included.

My OPC told me they’d been told by Porsche GB they could take deposits for the 992 TTS...I know some OPC’s will take deposits on cars that aren’t launched but they generally don’t. I know people on here have places deposits for the Taycan, I’ve got my name down but haven’t been asked for one yet.

The pertinent info though was that they have a lot of “orders”. I spoke to me SE a couple of days after 992 was launched, they had more deposits on TTS than Carrera S!

My dealer has always said they can’t take deposits before a call is officially released. This applies to all the 991 GT cars.

It's a strange one alright. I have no idea what the OPC's are really up to. The two I contacted will take a deposit but link it to a C4S. So it's not an official deposit on a TTS it just shows my interest/commitment.

I suspect they're up to something that in some way benefits them but doesn't actually mean I'm any more likely to get a car if their big spenders fancy one.

TTS will probably be relatively fairly low numbers (not as low as a GT or halo Porsche obviously), but they will await allocation numbers before before deciding whether you will get one.

Whether you will have to buy a Porsche watch or buy one of their cars too as part of the deal is a possibility with some OPCs.

Unfortunately I'm not in a financial position to just buy another Porsche for the hell of it. The TTS itself is a major indulgence for me and it's not as if the TTS doesn't depreciate or is collectable. So no way to that!

How much does a Porsche watch cost? lol

£10k.

A few GT3RS customers are evidently thinking twice about their orders with this condition.

I really wouldn't be looking for an early car. Better to buy one after a year or two when the cars been in production for a while IMO and early production issues dealt with. This cars a big leap forward in terms of its electronics, sensors etc hence will no doubt have teething problems.
