Right. I am sick and tired of faffing about with laces every time I put on my safety booys, or take them off. I want some pull-on riggers, I reckon.

Primarily for arsing about in the garage (car spannering, some heavy), with a bit of heavy diy too. I'd like a fairly flexible sole, but I need a strong toecap. Leather looks pretty, but not essential. Fur lined will probably be too warm, but I do want something comfortable, and they have to be a good fit (like my chelsea boots, not my wellies)

Any recommendatIons? I'm not paying £200 for a pair of DMs. smile

Easier to get on off and work in than riggers. I’m on my 4th pair of these or their predecessors

I find that digger boots are much better than riggers, particularly when you need to jump in the car and drive it without mashing too many pedals at the same time.

I can only use driving shoes for my 'garage' car. smile

Another option is the twisty knob wire lacing system. I have some Engelbert Strauss "Kastra" boots and they are very quick to put on and tighten.

Thanks all. I bought some dealer boots from Screwfix. They're only £43, and apparently they last very well.

Screwfix Site riggers are totally inadequate for the job, I had about four pairs 6 or so years ago and all of them went at the little black plastic bit they pop into the heal area.

I kept sending them back but in the end gave up and got a pair from eBay with full wrap around plastic on the heal area, 2 winters in they’re still going strong.

Magnum are excellent, they're actually made by 80's wannabe casual brand "Hi Tec", plus they're used by Special forces so in addition to being a good boot, they're great to "walt" about in. However, I work on the railway and we were given Magnums to trial, they lasted about 3 months on the ballast, it literally ripped the soles to bits.

Super duper comfy though, hard wearing upper but crap sole.

As people have said, Dealer boots are what you want, near standard issue in the shipyard - easy on and off, cheap and can wear them to the shops etc.

Loads out there to choose from.

Good thread.
I’m fed up lugging my storm trooper boots to sites, I might try a pair of ‘normal’ looking boots & a decent set of indoor sole covers.

What about the classic Jalette, I've been using the same pair since 2008. Available in Gore-Tex too.
