M2 Tyre Choice
Discussion
Hey all,
Looking for some opinions if anybody has been in the same or similar situation.
The car currently has Continental Contisport 3 tyres fitted all round (as from new). The rears are gone and need replaced however the fronts still have a good 5+mm left. The problem is it appears that the Continentals are no longer made and so I can't switch like for like - I've tried several dealers as well as Blackcircles etc and even the Continental Website no longer makes them.
Clearly it's not an ideal situation to have different makes front/rear however since it seems like a bit of a waste to change out the fronts which have plenty of life left, has anybody had any experience with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Continental Sport Contact 6. Will fitting either of these on the rear (with the Contisports on the front) lead to horrible handling?
Any advice appreciated!

Ive had both on my M2 (not at the same time though!)
I found the Michelins to be much better all round, quieter, and better in the wet especially
IMO it wouldn't be a problem to put different on the back to front, they are different sizes anyway as you know. Ive done it on lots of cars in the past and haven't had a problem. No doubt somebody will be along shortly to say otherwise.

So following on from having them fitted I’d definitely say that the Michelin’s are an improvement over the continentals that were originally fitted.
•No horrible tramlining that some other posts alluded to as a result of having Contis on the front axel and Michelin’s on the rear.
•Grip is improved and seems more predictable (although this could just be down to the old ones needing replacement)
•More pronounced rim protector which I’m all fairness probably won’t have much difference but it may just save you from a costly alloy refurb.
All in all they seem like an improvement (and they look nicer
