ive went and bought it, with a 5 inch backing plate and lake country pads.

People have got me worried, i have bought a LIGHT cutting pad and was planning on using meguiars ultimate compound to correct the paint, however being a ford the paint chips easily and people are saying they would be careful incase i go through the clearcoat.

Surely the above combo will be safe and not cut the clearcoat that much in one session?

I've just bought the same one, cracking price.

Someone on DW recommended this series of videos to me, they're long but quite good as it's done in real time and no steps are skipped

what setting do you think is what oscillation speed? Doesent say what speed 1 to 6 in the manual is and online all it says is polish at 3000 rpm etc.

People seem to smear the polish on using setting 1, then polish using 4-5. Most polishers are more like 900w compared to this one with 600w.
I'm going to try at speed 5 with a green hex logic pad and sholl s20 black I think.

Ive bought a lake country light cutting pad and finishing pad.

Planning on using the light cutting pad with menzerna super finish plus, just to restore the paintwork, then a sealent then a good wax.

I bought a 5 inch backing plate to replace the 6 inch, and the pads ive got are 5.5

Can you post a link to the 5 inch plate? I can't find one that fits the m4 bolt on this polisher.

No need for both a sealant and wax, they do the same thing, go for whichever gives the most durability

Can anyone tell me what size the spanner is , as mines missing out the box and dont want to take it back as no one else has them any more !! I'll make a spanner from some 3mm steel I have . Bit of a pain, but not insurmountable .
No panic now, its 14mm , same as a spanner I have for a pneumatic rivet gun, so all good again.

I've used mine today, did the following to clean it

autoglym polar snowfoam
2 bm wash with some turtlewax shampoo i'm still working through
bilt hamber claybar

THen to polish, I used a legit green hex logic pad (i.e. not from amazon) with Scholl S20 Black compound.

I was up against it timewise, so no pics. But I'm well pleased with the result. I followed Forensic Detailings polishing guide to the letter and it worked a treat.

I used speed 1.5 to spread the compound on, then 5 to do the actual work.

This combination (with only very light pressure) removed swirls no problem on my Skoda's paint, it's left some deeper scratches behind but I reckon you could sort those with a bit more pressure and a slower pass (or more aggressive pad).

Never done anything other than a quick and dirty wash and go with car shampoo and sponge, ans always assumed a good DA Polisher would be a price prohibitive to very infrequent use, but interesting to read about what appears to be a reasonable polisher for a reasonable price.

Looks like its been around years, inc re-brand, having found this thread: https://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread....

Sorry to crash this thread but how much is the advantage of a DA over using a variable speed drill?
