I've got the itch again, trying to find a fixer upper road regd but off road capable machine. over the years I have had dozens, never pair over a grand, but always willing to tart up something rough, but right now there is nothing out there, people are asking £1200 for mot failures needing hundreds spent. Is this how it is now, or is this just a bad month?

On the whole bike prices are on the up really, or at least they aren't coming down as low as they used too.

For example, I paid £1500 for a CRM 250 in good but not perfect condition with an MOT etc a few years ago.

Now a similar example would be £2000!

Same as the VFR 750 and Fireblade I bought, nothing available in similar condition for similar money.

Just the market on the whole really but bargains can be had, you just have to trawl tirelessly through every possible avenue and have the money ready when the right thing pops up

its looking that way, its just strange trailies are more affected, plenty of sports, commuter and cruiser bargains locally but traillies not so much. going to look at a knackered chinese 125, if it runs and doesnt smoke too bad £200 should take it, then its a bit of painting and welding and wiring to fix and try to source fork seals, or bodge on forks from something else, there really isnt anything in the middle ground its mostly 2-300quid scrap, or £2k for 2002 ish bikes, fk that.
