Is it unusual for an OPC to quote cheaper than an independent specialist?

I've had a quote come in from Colchester Porsche for a couple of hundred pounds cheaper than my local specialist

I suspect it depends on the work itself, whether the indy actually wants to do it or not etc. It's probably unusual though.

Would there be any advantage of using an OPC?

Are you sure the scope of the service is the same? The price of oil alone will be a lot higher at the OPC

The headline price at my local specialist is about the same as an OPC. However, the only time I went to the OPC they then added more re work, such as brake disks, at ripoff prices. So, overall I get better prices at the specialist.
However, YMMV.

I would complain to your OPC that they were cheaper and you spent less - you might get compensation
