I used Norwich Union. Had to fit a Tracker and loaded up the excess (£600) in order to make it affordable though.

£650 (approx.) With N/Union via broker (Bennetts 01934 624638). Myself & spouse to drive (full business use for me).
Car kept on drive (away from main road), CAT 1, both have clean licenses(amazingly), full NCB & aged 40.
Each year it gets cheaper & I don't ask why!
Started out at approx.£1250 in 2005 for my GTS.
Give them a ring & quote my name & no. plate if you like.

I think £650 is amazing for 530+ BHP, 347 BHP was about £630 with Tesco

Yeah, no idea why it gets cheaper every year, can't remember the exact amount without getting the paperwork out but defo. below £700. When I traded the VT for the VX I told them about all the mods. & they still only asked for an extra £50.
I have several friends in the general insurance business & rates vary hugely. This seems to be down to deals that brokers can get, linked in with the amount of bus. that they give the insurance co..
For example although my friend is manager of a big west country brokers he couldn't get N/Union premiums anywhere like as low as mine, even if he made no profit.
In the past, I used a different broker who could get amazing deals with N/U for modified Saabs.
I still spend about a day on the phone each year finding good deals for our car insurance. It's a right pain but pays off.
What is also important is the claim experience, cheap direct insurers such as Directline, who some of my colleagues are with, gave terrible service when they claimed. I have heard good news about N/U claims.

Adrian Flux would not insure me without Cat. 1 stuff, even though everything else is in my favour (age, record, garaged, etc etc etc)

FORD INSURE are my favourites...been with them 7 years and they have done me a favour, whereby the stock security is enough for them.
