I ended up getting a Panasonic unit for £350 in the end (80GB+DVDR). Doesn't have freeview, but then its not that I want to watch "more" tv, i just want to watch things that they put on when i'm not around. I refuse to have a tv dictating my social life.

Set it up already (as you'd expect) and it seems pretty reasonable. Despite being a "techie" i still dread getting a remote control with 51 buttons.

Topgear and 5thwheel are now programmed to be recorded :-)

We did this a month or so back. Don't buy a top end one now, as the newer high density disks and HD broadcasts should appear next year.

Look for GuidePlus to get SKY+ style programming, without the big subscription.

Um. That's it.
