Mazda B-Series - Low emission zone fine

Hi all,
I've just been slapped with a £250 fine for inadvertently driving within the London low emission zone, in my old Mazda pick-up. I was under the impression that you were issued with a warning for the first time you were picked up driving in the LEZ (not the reason I drove within it BTW) Anything I can do about it? Here's hoping.

I thought first offence was a warning. Not been through before without realising?

I'm pretty sure I've not been been through without knowing.
Definitely never received any warning letter..

I'd go back to them and point out it's your first time. Say you thought it was a warning letter and ask if that has changed.

I am on a forum for a vehicle type for which some are LEZ-compliant and some aren't (depending on a number of factors). There have been a number of threads about this recently but the main ones currently are;

• Some people getting a fine for a first offence and some getting a warning
• Vehicles that are compliant being flagged as not compliant (and vice-versa); there appear to be a lot that are wrong
• Glitches in the system such as non-compliant vehicles being updated to compliant if you put a private plate on them (!!)

In short, the system appears to be seriously flawed...
