Hi all. Need to change my VFR 800 as it's not ULEZ compliant.

Only use the bike for a 7 mile commute and the occasional tour/blast so don't want to drop too much money on this.

Looking around, I have been amazed by how affordable these are. What are the views of the collective and what are the waych-outs I should - err - watch out for?

It may sound like a silly question but do you know its not compliant or are you going by the age?

I liked mine. They’re pretty heavy compared to outright sports bikes, but are great all rounders.

My only complaint is that they’re not as smooth as other large capacity tourers I’ve tried, so worth a ride on one first.

They’re very good value, but If you can stretch to it, I’d consider the k1300s which is better in almost every way, and far less of a risk in terms of something expensive going wrong...

Great all rounders that are quick and comfortable. Feel is a bit wooden but handling is good if you're happy to ride on faith.

Lots of things go wrong and are expensive to fix. As such, I wouldn't touch one with a barge poll. A K1300S is is a much better bike. The price difference between the two is less than the cost of fixing a couple of common issues on the K1200S

Seconded. And from the amount of research I did before getting involved in K1300S world, many things got fixed with the k1300s that can cost a bit in the k1200. So as k1 says: K13 smile

Huge thanks for pointing me in this direction. You’re right that my current bike is compliant!

Thanks also to all who shared the views on the K1200S
