Curiosity has got the better of me, and I’m sure someone on this forum will know! I live in Windsor, and a BA 747 has just come over to land - nothing unusual there. However, it was making a number of pops or bangs as it came overhead, quite a lot like you’d hear from a car if it backfires.

Any idea what might have been happening? Flight radar tells me it was G-CIVK from Denver to Heathrow.

Think it must have been - thanks! I’d have been rather concerned if I was on board, but looks like it’s nothing to worry about too much...

Not viewed the vid ,but could it have been a bird strike?

Remember that US plane that cooked a few coming out of Heathrow 1-2 years ago?

That was popping and banging quite well

Loud exhaust innit...

seriously, I'd probably crap myself as well. I'm ot the world's best passenger on a plane, this would do little to help my nerves...

Yep, certainly that sort of sound. Was around 1,000 feet up - do birds go that high? If so, it’s a likely candidate!

Yep, bird strike is still a risk at 1000 ft
