two quick questions about 993tts (alert VS)
Discussion
"Never fear, i am here....."
Standard spec is 408bhp running a pair of K16's
Factory upgrade no.1 is 430bhp which is a different ECU and an additional oil cooler
Factory upgrade no.2 is 450bhp which is a different ECU and an additional oil cooler and a pair of K24's
If you boot a standard car at 3k rpm in 3rd, you should very quickly see 0.8 bar.
With the 430 kit you will see 0.9 bar.
I'm ashamed to say i don't know what you'll see with the 450 kit
but i'd guess around 0.9 to 1.0 bar.
Next question?

With my 450 I see the 0.8 bar too. The idea is not to increase the boost, rather to increase the ultimate throughput.

oh, and luggage space is unaffected between C2/C4/Turbo - the only difference is if you find one with the long range tank (which is 92 litres instead of the 72 litres in the standard tank).
This eats up about 1/3rd of the usual boot space.
...and scares the bejesus out of your wallet when you fill it up. You also get funny looks from cashiers when they see 85 litres or more going into a small car!

According to various rennlist posts the factory boost gauge will never display more then 0.8 bar unless there's a fault somewhere. Allegedly it doesn't actually read the boost from the sensor but calculates it based on various parameters.
The 993tt's motronic system is quite clever and carefully manages the boost level.
From a factory boost graph here a list of rpm vs boost level:
2000 0.2
2500 0.5
3000 0.8
3500 0.95
4000 0.85
4500 0.9
5000 0.6
5500 0.65
6000 0.7
6500 0.75
7000 ???
7500 0 (cause a piston's gone walkabout in its cylinder!)
There must be a good reason the stuttgart elves designed the boost curve like this...
send me an email and I'll send the graph as a jpeg

Thanks all and what would be a fair price for a LHD 993 tt with 430PS?
Seen one with 90k kms, black on black. Sports Seats, Heated Seats, Cruise Control, Climate Control, Sunroof, Soundpack, Turbo Alloys (I assume quite a few of those were standard on the tt?)
Dan
I have been studying these Babys for a while now on Mobile.de , im hoping to get my feet wet when the right one turns up
In actual fact there seem relativly few out there , some iffy ones at aroung 40k Euros the beaut i have my eye on is 55k Euro (ish)i really want to see more before i decide so not that much choice really.
For example on mobile there is about 2 pages of 993TTs if you dial in a 996 TT there are 100s out there

By the way Nel, is yours a French or UK car ?
I will be looking for the exact same one before Xmas, yours caught my eye.....
French registered LHD, but I bought it in the UK from a fellow who flitted between his properties in Nice and Cornwall. When he bought it in France it was sourced for him 2nd hand from Germany, whereupon he immediately spent £10k having it trucked back to the factory for the 450 bhp power upgrade. Which was nice of him...
