AutoCAR - Ben Samuelson interview

This week's AutoCAR has an interview with Ben Samuelson (regular Q&A style on the letters page). He mentions that the thing he is most envious of is Lotus beating TVR back into North America.

From this I read that TVR will go back there sometime soon then. Excellent news! (we're toying with moving to the SFO bay area in a few years time - I work there a lot and the girlfriend is from there).

My guess is there a lot of pottential new markets that are a lot less risky than America.

Wow I am first in the queue, surely! Perhaps we should start an SF based TVRCC just in case. Looking out the window at the bay bridge with clear blue skies wishing I had the TVR at hand this morning!

If TVR do decide to sell in the US imagine the quality and reliability improvements that would filter through into their UK cars.

TVR would be a force seriously to be reckoned with.

Be interesting to see how the Tuscan and Sagaris will look with those horific rubber bumpers that TVR were forced to attach to the Wedges when they were first exported to the USA.

I'm not sure if the Wedge bumpers will fit a Sagaris . When did you last see big rubber bumpers on a new car in the USA???

Have you seen the stupid rear bumper overriders fitted to US spec 911s? Even recent model ones - awful.

Don't forget the 'Federalized' Elise doesn't have bumpers. I wonder what they did to the clamshells in order to pass the 5mph impact test (I assume they still have this - car has to undamaged after a 5mph impact or something).

Arrghhh! Good and bad to hear - have just relocated back from San Francisco after 5 yrs and one thing which made it easier was the ownership of a Tuscan here in the UK! A TVR, with the weather in SF....quick purchase of return ticket!!

Not a bit of it - can be cold/foggy June & July, but 6 mths without rain from May to Nov and Aug-Sept days with unbroken sunshine cannot elicit any complaints!
