Let me guess, this is about black / silver number plates not being recognisable by ANPR cameras (allegedly).

This was in the papers a week or so ago.
Dont you just hate it When you can't get parked up at the station or supermarkets because of all those classics.
Surely more plates can't be read because they've been butchered, miss-spaced or have a screw cap changing the appearance of a character.
Will have to take mine out and see if the cameras can read my new plates.

This is such a load of rubbish. My 1930 car with hand painted number plates has no problem with car park cameras etc.

Yep, I've had classics on black-and-white plates get picked up fine by car park ANPR cameras, even my Mini with its unusual 'four numbers + one letter' format.

The only classic I've used which could park for 'free' was a Triumph 2500TC estate, because the number plate was so low and so far back (being attached to the valance rather than the bumper) that the plate was presumably completely obscured at the angle the camera was looking at. The Triumph's plate was never in the system when it came to pay (in the one ANPR-fitted car park I used with it...)

We have a local Co-op supermarket near by, and the parking attendant could not read my black with raised white lettering plates with his hand held device, despite crouching down on his knees to try....
