Can anyone recommend me a good intercom system please. Can't find a recent thread but I'm looking for something to talk to the Mrs while on the back and listen to blue tooth sat nav and music on my bike. Needs to be simple to use as I'm a technophobe (-:

Cheers

Cardo Scala or Sena are the two most common. Both do twin packs and both do pretty much what it says on the tin. Both have small niggles, one of which is they're very limited ability to talk to each other. As the saying goes, you pays your money and you take your choice!

Me and all my mates have Cellularline Interphones which work very well; I'm very impressed. People speaking to me on the phone are always very surprised when they find out that I'm on a bike.

Avoid the "urban" variant - very limited range compared to the "sport" and "tour", with which is is compatible.

Second vote for the Interphones. I've got the Tour and it works really well solo and in a group. I've also used it successfully paired with a Scala.

We've recently got Interphones (an older model I got free off a mate). They seem to work pretty well generally, although the FM Radio function is crap.

It's also worth looking at how the equipment will fit to your helmets, as they're not all universally compatible.

Boblov BT-S2

So cheap I carry a spare for...spares!

I love spending cash on gear and would happily pay hundreds for something better - havent found it.

Used on green lanes in the UK, Pyranees, Africa - faultless.

Sena for me all day long. I'm away in Germany next week, there's 10 of us and we're all using the same system

Battery lasts all day and quality very good. Simple enough to use as well

I've used both the cheapo Amazon/eBay imports (BT-S2 or similar) and currently have a Sena SRL built into my helmet.

The cheap ones are absolutely fine for pillion or bluetooth music - in fact that's all me and her had for a couple of years and honestly couldn't complain over hundreds of journeys, except perhaps for the badly translated instructions and pairing by 'beep' codes!

Then she passed her test and we discovered they were completely useless for bike-to-bike beyond about 50 yards.... hence now both using Senas which I so-far cannot fault.

It's a fair point - but we ride off road in some pretty iffy places at times. We work on basis that if the comms start to crackle someones gone too far ahead! We get about half a klick with no issue.

The main point is that you should all get the same make as trying to get them all to link up when you have different brands is a massive pain and not really possible.

One reason I went with Interphone is because they are fully waterproof and not just water resistant. Do consider when you'll be using them.
