Where to look? Its outside of my contacts knowledge, but something I have been asked to look into. Can also consider invoice finance.

To be clear, you are trying to buy a finance company?

Own book or broker..

Sales people employed/associate ‘ar’/ independent introductions.

Current/past credit policy/framework, bad debts, full amortisation rate of the book, and the all important yield on the book/business.

Clean ‘gold’ assets (new cars/new plant etc), deposits and vat down over a reasonable period.

Or ‘tarnished silver’ (old cars/plant, and stuff that’s not normally financed), older stuff over another 5/6 yrs on op leases.

Or junk, cash loans (vat/Corp tax/invoice finance top ups etc).

There’s a hell of a lot to look into, normally these businesses grow, then merge, or implode.

& normally lots of millions to take on.

Thanks for the replies.

Foiliedouce - yes. as part of a strategic options review.

DeeSee - thanks for the detailed response; at this stage I would consider purchasing a small brokerage - funding is in place, its more the knowledge, business framework and industry contacts I lack.

I know someone that’s running down a car finance book he set up. Infrastructure is still in place. Could be open to a cheeky offer.

He’s also an expert in setting up various flavours of credit funding so could consult on setting a tailored solution up from scratch.

Let me know if you want to put you in touch
