May i enquire as to your question?

Do i think they are worth the 8K option? Yes taking into account that one wheel with a tyre is just over 10k. Do they make the car drive any better? that's very subjective but i have driven a 2RS with the normal steel wheels back to back with my own 2RS that has the Magnesium wheels, and you can feel quite a bit of difference between the 2. The car with the mag wheels feels more responsive on the steering. The only downside is that care needs to be taken not to hit any kerbs, you can scuff the wheel that can be rubbed down and painted. But if the Magnesium gets broken then Porsche say its a new wheel. Which is best to be on the safe side. I damaged one at 5 Mph on kerb and had to have new wheel, insurance covered it.

Had Magnesium wheels on the 964 RS , but just took them off and used copies as on track kerb riding would be an issue ... hence all the Magnesium wheels are still pristine ....

I like the look or the standard wheels so much it would be a shame to give them up. Obviously you can’t overlook the unsprung weight benefits of the lighter wheels. Does anyone know how much lighter ?

The worrying factor is we get quite a few pot holes around here and I can’t see the council likening a claim of £10k each time you hit one!

First and foremost I’ll need a car to put them on!

Chance of a car currently between 0% and 100%

Wheels 50/50

If I remember I think the theory was un sprung weight would be worth 4x the Chassis weight saving.

So if 2kgs per wheel = 8kg Total that would be worth the equivalent of needing to find 32kgs saving on the Chassis

The RS's Mag wheels save 11.5Kg over the standard forged items..I love the look of the Aurum ones however given a choice i'd stick with the standard platinum Mag wheels which will match the exposed C/F and side script.

Take the cage out Viola .....weight removed from the back . Order with WP and mag wheels , for re-sale reasons , then change them for the better looking forged wheels to use on tracks and some kerb hopping . That is the way it was done in the 90's .

Makes sense however if going with the Weissach pack the Titanium cage weighs much less than the standard steel version. My favourite colour on a WP RS is Black as it tones down the exposed C/F giving it a more subtle and mean look..
How are you finding the upkeep of the flat Black on yours..? Have you had any issues with swirls and chipping etc.?

No Issues , beside if you look under some really bright lights ... yes some small swirls I guess from the local hand wash . Some small stone marks from SS but all on the PPF ( the first time I got it done ) . The ideal I think is the Dark Grey PTS , Weissach pack , saw a GT2 RS in US like that and it was great . Anyway good luck
