First time I've scrapped a car

I took my girlfriends first car, a little Fiat Uno, for it's MOT today. It failed for various reasons which would take about 300 quid to sort out. That, and the fact that I strongly suspect the head gasket is on it's way out means it's gone off to the big car park in the sky for the princely return of 20 quid.

I really feel quite sad about this. She's hardly driven it as she's currently learning to drive, and is taking lessons rather than learn in the Uno with me (thank god!) so it's mainly been me that's driven it now and then. For the most part it's been sitting outside, but even though we've only had it for 9 months or so it's amazing how much of an attachment builds up to such a pile of a car.

Thankfully we've not lost much in monetary terms. I thought about keeping it another week and putting it on EBay, but I don't think the return is worth the amount of numpties I'd probably have to deal with.

Its funny how we get attached to even the cheapest of vehicles!

I've owned nothing but cheapies all my life, all of which have ended up at the scrapyard, but its still sad seeing the old motors being towed away to meet their maker.

In fact, my best mate was so attached to one of his cars, he actually shed a tear when the old girl had to be scrapped!

hehe i can see why you are attached to fiat uno. I had those fiat uno as first car. Its great car apart body roll.
