Mondeo mk4.5 estate - 175k miles

Hi All,
Been looking for a replacement for our trusty c-max and this Mondeo has popped up locally. I like these a lot and it has a development of the 2.0 diesel engine and gearbox in our C-Max, both of which I also enjoy.

It's a mk4.5 TitaniumX so a lovely spec. Elephant in the room is it has 175k miles. To be fair it's MOT history is very clean, that said it has not yet been tested against the new regs.

Should I be worried about the high miles or just go and see it. I have funds to maintain it but don't want to have to shovel money at it for the sake of it.

I would go see it with the intention to knock it down, would want it a little cheaper.

Mileage wouldn't put me off to much. Always buy on condition and FSH, but expect to get nothing for it when you come to sell it.

It's a bit of a punt at that mileage I know. Maybe I will make contact to see what's what. The very short MOT is very offputting. Why not put a fresh MOT on it as this would surely make it more sellable.

This is another nearby Mondeo. 3 years older and a pre-facelift hatch this time, but with the more exciting 2.5T. Dealer rather than private sale.

Are 2.5T's durable. They don't seem overly stressed given the output.

The 2.5T is a very reliable engine & out of the two the 2.5T would be where my money would be going as long as it passes the checks.

My daughter is running my old 2011 Mondeo which is at 150k, it is the 1.6 tdci eco engine. Only major expense apart from routine servicing including cam belt change has been a clutch and dual mass flywheel about 5k ago. Still doesn’t use any oil and drives great. Was serviced regularly form new and most of the mileage was motorway at steady 70 - less stressful than watching for plod lol.

Good well built cars that are well capable of high miles subject to good servicing.
