Why are my strap pins forever breaking?

As per title. I have a couple of Seiko kinetic watches which I've had for ages and really like them - heavy, keep perfect time and never stop due to battery wearing out. Except I can't rely on them because every few weeks the pin snaps and the strap (metal in both watches) comes off. Last time I took the thing to TImpsons (having replaced the pin four weeks previously) the wretched thing snapped three days later.

I have a desk job and am pretty confident I'm not moving my wrist excessively. Both watches must be 10-15 years old and for the first decade in both cases the straps never snapped once. The straps are clean, the holes in the lugs are clean. So what's wrong with modern pins that mean they just can't hold a strap in place any more?

Incidentally if anyone can point me to how to replace the pins myself I'd be grateful - I bought a set of pins of varying sizes and a tool off Amazon as I was getting so fed up going to watch repair shops to get new pins. Despite seeing it being done countless times, can I for the life of me figure out how to do it myself? Can I heck...

had this problem with a SW watch with a leather strap wrote to the manufactures and they said i needed a new strap which was absloute rubbish as watch was only 6 months old . Got so fed up with it i sold the watch in the end

If you can't work out how to put a strap pin in there is no hope. Hang up your man card, the door is over there >
I have the same watch though, although they don't go as frequently as yours I still go through a few. I measured carefully what I needed using an online guide and got a bag off Ebay.
Now the bloody centre clasp thing has fallen off
It's such a shame the straps are carp when the actual watch is so reliable.

Tere are numerous videos on Youtube showing how to fit a bracelet. It can be quite fiddly getting the end piece back in between the lugs.

It might be the lug holes in the watch case. If they've picked up a bit of a 'curved out' profile, then a pin can pull itself out. The solution might be to use pins that are smaller diameter at their ends so they can fit all the way into the bottom of the lug holes
