I'm rather excited to have just put a deposit on an 09 (470bhp) DB9 Volante. It's a low miles low ownership car that the Aston main dealer has had in stock over the winter so the price has been reduced some 25%. That makes it a very cheap 09 MY that would otherwise have been out of my budget. That said, I have gone over my budget but don't we all! Comes with the comfort of the 12 months Timeless warranty and freshly MOT'd and serviced.

Booked a train ticket for Monday from East Sussex to Chester to view the car with my 5 year old son. As it's a main dealer I'm hoping not to be disappointed.

I had actually been looking for a manual Vantage with Sports pack. I know the DB9 is a GT and maybe I'm getting old but cruising to the music of a V12 with the roof down this summer appeals.

Fingers crossed all goes well and pics will be posted idc.

Congrats. I swapped my Vantage Coupe for a DB9 Volante about 18 months ago - you wouldn't have gone wrong with either choice, they're both great cars I just fancied a change. Trust me you won't get bored of listening to that V12 with the roof down any time soon.

If you have a family like me you might even find that the rear seats come in useful. They're small but with the front seats shifted forward and the roof off they aren't too bad for short journeys. Rear passengers sit pretty high up and I'm told that being in the back with the roof off when going full throttle is quite an experience.

Excellent. I have a 5 year old son so will shoehorn him in the back, which I'm sure he will enjoy. When I was 5 my Dad had an Austin 1300, which is not quite the same but it was exciting when he wound it up to an indicated 90 once with the family of 4 aboard!

I had a DB9 Volante (2011) a few years ago when my son was 11; not a small 11 either.

But he still made it into the back OK for short journeys.

At 5 he will be fine.

A glorious car; much softer for long journeys but you can still hoof them around a bit.

Enjoy and congratulations!

OP - my young son loved collecting our second Vantage last year. AM dealers are great letting young ‘uns enjoy the experience!

We did the same and travelled to AM Bristol by train and bus simply for a day out.

Have a wonderful time and enjoy the new wheels!

At least one of my kids has always been with me to help make the final decision about whether to buy a car or not. Hopefully some nice memories for them in the future.

If you’re heading to Stratstone AM, I assume you know it’s a reasonable hike from Chester to Wilmslow (assuming this is where the car is)?

Enjoy the new toy!

Yes Stratstone. I mean't Cheshire, not Chester! Euston to Wilmslow!

All your positive comments are making me feel I've made a great choice. I'm just viewing Monday; want check it over in case I spot anything that needs doing before I either collect the car or have it delivered. That and I need a couple of days to move some money around.
