Hello everyone!

I have a low mileage E90 which started to need a lot of oil lately. About 1L/1500 kms.
It seems it's burning oil as I see blue smoke when I Rev the car at about 5000 rpm. A friend says that the valve stems seals may need replacing, but as far as I've searched on the internet, they are not a frequent problem of this engine. Or are they?

Is there anybody who owns a car with this engine and had the same problem? What are the things I should check?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you!

I’m not familiar with your engine but the n62 v8 suffers fron the valve stem seals going hard and therefore not sealing.
The car generally doesn’t smoke, but if left to idle for a couple of minutes when you subsequently rev it you will get a cloud of smoke just once.
The time left idling and getting another cloud of smoke denotes how bad they are.
Mine would need a couple of mins initially then it was down to 30 seconds (sat at the lights) when i changed them.
It’s my understanding that the same seals were used on other none v8 engines and I think the mini?
