F10 M5 vs Panamera Turbo (c.2011-13)

Thinking forward to a practical fast car and the above two spring to mind. Want a size up from M3/C63 and 911s etc.

Views in the above appreciated, especially from those that have driven both.

I can add no real help other than to say that the Panamera is not a looker
M5 for me!

Why not go for the M6 Gran Coupe it's a compromise of both.

M5 more roomy inside and probably more practical. Panamera feels higher quality and road handling far superior to BM. Panny probably will hold value better but is not a looker. Both great cars drive them both and see what you prefer.

Panamera a superb bit of kit, more of an event than the M5

The 6GC is a lovely looking car as well. If I could afford one then I would have one over an M5.

I would take an Audi S8 over any of the above.

Do you mean in terms of acceleration? Panamera is 4wd ( I have the Turbo S) so much easier to launch but I suspect not much in it once rolling. Top speed irrelevant as over 150 mph for both. In gear acceleration probably the same. Around a bendy road the Panny will destroy the M5. The BMW probably sounds more raucous so seems like its going quicker.

Panamera Turbos are around 35-37k for one with sensible miles & some extended Porsche warranty left, which will buy you some serious options:
