Turbo conversions and emmisions
Discussion
I believe the manifold cats are not as efficient as the main dustbin cat..
They were added for the stricter emissions for sales abroad if I remember correctly.
it would probably be a suck it and see scenario to see if they work. They may also add more restriction and seeing that you are after maximum power it may boil down to finding a friendly tester.

The precats are there specifically to get the emissions reduced on a cold engine as they heat up much faster than the main cat. They are not needed at all for MOT as all tests are done with a hot engine, so as long as you have a main cat downstream to the turbo it should still pass the tests OK, as long as the cat is near enough the engine to get good hot exhaust gas. Id think there would be a good chance things would be OK if you replaced the middle silencers with a couple of high flow catalysts. They were added for the stricter emissions for sales abroad if I remember correctly.

Hi gents, just picked up on this.
I fitted a 200 cell sports cat in line and alongside the sump. I bought the cat off eBay for £100 ish and welded it in place myself. The cat came with a built in heat shield on one side which I put next to the sump.

A mate of mine did an emissions test as a favour in between MOT testing, and it didn’t pass but, it was close and improving but we ran out of time. His gut feeling was it needed running in and mapping.
I’m running an emerald system with 3 maps, full fat( pops bangs) economy run and 4 star low Ron.

This is it in place. It looks to be touching the sump and chassis in the picture but it isn’t. There is approx 10mm clearance all round.
I ran it to Burghley and back and car temps were no different.
Pops and bands were still there also.
Overall pleased with the result but still a bet of fettling needed.

Whats the diameter of that CAT please?
Looks like a good solution.
