We are just buying our first home, and before we move in permanently we are going to redecorate, new kitchen, bathroom etc, although no structural works.
We want to get everything finished and move in after we are married, so the end of September. Whilst we are doing the work we will be most probably be staying in the property some weekends, and visiting several more times during the week, but we were unsure if this would class as unoccupied as far as home insurance is concerned?

probably best speak to your insurance company as each will have a different view on it.

(also speak to your council as they should have a reduced rate if your not living in the property)

You really need a broker on this. With most insurers that would be classed as unoccupied, as it isn't your permanent home (yet) however a broker should get that over the line for you. Most home insurers only give 30 days unoccupied cover.
