Morning BB!

The categories and cbt etc have me in a spin so some knowledge would be appreciated.

I have been looking at getting a 125cc bike for green laning with my dad.

Long story short not sure if I need to take a cbt to ride legally:

When I passed my car test on 18.03.11 I still had a valid cbt (not sure if that helps or not?)

Can i ride a 125cc now? (With or without L plates?)

Have enclosed the back of my licence for clarity.

I assume i can ride 50cc without a cbt but not a 125cc, any help appreciated.

Cheers

Many thanks, will only be used to travel to greenlaning etc so no need for a a1, cbt will get booked once a bike is sourced!

CBT is not even a test. The 't' stands for training. They just throw you on one of their 125s and you just ride around in circles for an hour or so then out on the road for an hour or so. You can't fail - well I have never heard of anyone not getting their certificate.

My daughter didn't get to the standard where they would let her out on the road bit. Combination of nerves, freezing weather and probably convincing herself half way though that it wasn't for her.

To be fair it's not for everyone, at least she realised it wasn't for her before getting too involved with bikes etc smile

What 125 are you thinking of getting? If it's something like a ktm 125 2 stroke then you'd need to do a full test because of the power to weight. I'm not sure exactly what the numbers are, but I think the limit for cbt is something like 12 or 15 hp. A KTM 125 2 stroke is more than 30.

If only something like an old xl125 then it's fine.

Cool that'll probably be fine. I'd imagine a few people have come a cropper. The great thing about offroading is you don't need loads of power to have fun. Enjoy!
