So over 40 years have past and since being a boy with a BMX and a 911 Turbo picture on my wall (along with that tennis girl poster...) and I'd always dreamt of owning a 911 Turbo, and I'd previously had 3 x 911's (a 996 C2 & C4 and a 997 C4) and thought I knew it all about buying cars and could manage with the "dealer experience" of specialist Porsche dealers and I was ready to buy my dream!!

However, very disappointingly it wasn't to be for some months and if I'm honest either most of the cars I went to see, or called the “specialist dealer” about either didn't match up to the advertising, the dealer didn’t really know their stuff, not to mention some of the stupid part-ex offers made on my then current 997 (not going to name any names as wouldn’t be polite but Porsche direct on this were the worst offenders...) and I was nearly going to give up and worry about Brexit instead and think again!

BUT, then just before Christmas I was actually going to view another car but in the morning had called 911V on another one they had although they were a long way for me to go, however on the way to the original viewing I got a call back from Tom on the car in the colour and spec I wanted which they had in stock, in fact the discussion was so good that I binned my original dealer viewing and diverted and headed straight down to 911V. Well I wasn’t disappointed, the car was everything Tom had said and importantly we then had a sensible discussions on history, part-ex and went through the whole car and what they do and support you after purchase and I couldn’t really find fault in any of this process or professionalism. So I bought it there an then!!

I’ve had the car now a few months and love it !! and interestingly I had a minor issue but Tom and the team had no hesitation is coming back to me and addressing it and to be fair it wasn’t really their fault so again the service and follow up is great (which is sometimes a better measure…) So everyone has their own stories and it’s so easy to complain, but I felt it might help others to pass on my experience and couldn’t recommend 911 Virgin, Tom and team there highly enough for anyone looking for a 2nd hand Porsche !!

PS – as I get older I can complain as good as the next man so if it means anything writing this is a further recommendation for those in the market looking for a Porsche

That's gorgeous! Congrats. No wonder you're thrilled. How are you enjoying the driving characteristics of the 997.2 Turbo? Fancy one of these myself and have looked at a few...but not taken the plunge yet.

It’s actually a 997.1 but with the wheels I wanted from 2. It’s a complete dream to drive, mad and fast as hell when you want it to but then if you just want to cruise around it’s just as good. I had an SL55 amg once and it’s heads about that although that too is a great cat

That looks lovely...proper rocketships the 997 Turbo. Manual or Tip?

I bought both my current Porkers from Tom and 911V and agree they are a good bunch who I would have no trouble in recommending. In fact my mate bought his 996 C2 from them off the back of my excellent experiences.

Thanks and yes it is a rocket ship when you want it to be! It’s a Tip which wasn’t my original choice but the drive on long trips is just better and seems to make me drive a bit more sensibly.... although that’s not really the plan ! 😂 cheers

That looks awesome.

I bought a ex 911V - Tom is so helpful and everything that seems to go through them is a good one. I paid over the odds but Toms approval was enough for me.

Enjoy what looks a superb car.

Congratulations! It’s a beauty. They’re awesome cars. I’ve had my one now for two years (the longest I’ve held on to a car) and I still grin every time I get in the seat. If it still has the standard exhaust I can recommend the Sharkwerks X-pipe to bring the flat six sound back to life. It makes a massive difference.

Firstly can wholly recommend Tom and the excellent 911V team - I’ve purchased twice from Tom, sold to them and they even looked at a private sale car on my behalf that happened to be local to them! They are a massive step ahead of anyone else I’ve ever dealt with and I’m a fussy b*****d!

With regard to the Sharkwerks exhaust upgrade whilst they sound great they only fit the 997.2 cars. Shame as my company ABP have them in stock here in the UK and we’ve fitted quite a few.

Enjoy the car - it looks great!

Go for a Europipe Stage 2. No brainer best exhaust out there at a reasonable price. If you want to have a listen pop down to 9e and ask Ken for a listen. He also sells Kline but EP2 the best I’ve heard in 12 years of driving one

Mine was supplied and fitted by DW Performance in Wellingborough. £1500. I did look at the Europipe too. Undoubtedly it’s a thing of shear beauty but I thought it was too expensive compared to the Sharkwerks.

Hi, pleased you’ve been positive about the x pipe, I’ve watched just about every YouTube exhaust vid and had come to the conclusion its a waste of £ putting anything different on a turbo.
Gen2 here BTW.

They sound very different in vids but yes a turbo will never sound like a GT3. Well worth changing though to a free flowing exhaust on a 997. VTGs really do not like exhaust back pressure.

Also you have to be more careful with tips with drone. Europipe won’t recommend their stage 2 to tiptronic owners as too droney
