CliveF Y piece fitting
Discussion
Pretty easy, you may need to acquire a ratchet strop to bring the manifolds into the Y piece as they tend to spring out. The easiest way to align it is to leave the exhaust in place so that it will support the Y piece while you're aligning the top rings. When tightening the ring clamps use a hammer to tap around the ring whilst tightening the nut. The clamp fixing isn't beefy enough to cope with the strain of pulling the parts into place. Tapping with a hammer encourages the rings to seat whilst you take up the slack with the fixing nut. Make sure you thoroughly clean the old mating surfaces, some people add a smear of exhaust paste to the ring mating surfaces. It can't do any harm but you will need to get a move on once you've applied the paste, it can start to harden if you take too long

I thought there were only two versions, bolted Y piece & ring clamp Y piece. Cat or precat of course. 400, 4.3, 4.5 & 500 all using the same basic exhaust system
Ahh, I don’t know ? Would be interested to find out if it can be fitted to a 43 precat as would be interested in it. ACT do decat pipes for bolted and 'band' connection manifolds.
Clive does the 'band' connection ones.
Clive also does equal length manifold set up which changes the sound of the exhaust dramatically - imho for the better.
If you have a bolted connection then just swap to the latter 'band' manifolds. They come up for sale pretty regularily
