Just thought I would ask the following as I cannot remember coming across this before:-

I have a 640d - Mileage at 24k. This week I have experienced that when I adjust the Climate control between 16-27.5C, there is no change to the air temp being blown out - seems warm even at the lower range (A/C is OFF, Centre Hot/Cold wheel between front vents set in the middle). As soon as it sets to 28C then hot air blasts out.

Also - not sure of this affects the above, but 2 months earlier the Dealer had taken out the dash completely to fix a previous issue.

I have extended warranty on the car with the same dealer group - would this type of issue (if any) come under warranty repair?

Cheers for your help.

It is possible that the dealer left a rod or a cable disconnected or badly fitted when putting back the dash. Have you any idea of when your current problem started and could it have coincided with the dealer's work?

More likely you may have a heater stat disconnected.

When you have it at max it ignores the stat anyway.

You need to take it back to them & tell them this.

Not really noticed until 2 days ago and weather was about 19C outside - decided to reduce temp from my usual winter setting of 23C to 17C, and that's when I noticed the possible issue (bearing in mind the AC was Off).... I would not have picked this up when I got the car back from the dealer initially.

Thanks I will do this....

I have not come across this for a car at this mileage, so I am thinking worse case it should be covered by the warranty for a failed part.

Slight semantics, it doesn’t have air conditioning, it’s climate control. The former always meant you played with the temperature, the latter is set and forget.

Why was it turned off, something they did or you? If the latter, just leave it on and set the temperature. Outside temperature is irrelevant, just set what you want in the cabin.

What’s the settings in climate on the drive. Do you have warm air in the custom settings? In case you’re unaware, link below.

Thanks - I usually have the AC off in the winter months.

Regarding the climate settings - I do not have those options as per the video in the link - I can only see auxillary heating settings.
