Tried to lift my m/h up last week to do some work under it and using a trolley jack under the axle it just wouldn't work, not enough room to get any action on the pump. Then tried the Peugeot supplied scissor lift and that was no use either.

So either I'm doing it wrong or the jacks are crap.

What do you do? How do you lift yours?

When we had a flat tyre on ours I looked at the very flimsy scissor Jack and decided not to bother and called the breakdown people. The supply jacks aren’t really good enough to lift a four ton motorhome. I didn’t fancy it falling off and doing some serious damage to either it or myself

Use a bottle jack

I've had our tag axle up on the standard ducato jack a few times. It's much easier with a long handle ratchet on the jack rather than the odd ratchet thing that's included. It might look flimsy but there's no way it would be supplied if it wasn't up to the job.
Tried a bottle jack but there's not really anywhere suitable for it to lift without risking it slipping off. The standard jack fits into the jacking points and seems pretty sturdy.

Bought a screwfix £19 3tonne bottle jack and I think that'll do the job. Thanks for your advice though

I use a 3t bottle jack and axle stands to level and stop any movement when parked on a pitch.

Cancels almost all away from the kids moving around. I use the jack points and rear most leaf spring mount points to place the stands.

As you reference caravans also while not relevant to you it will be to some.

Always make sure the hitch is secured, preferably to a car. Otherwise the caravan can swing off the jack.

It hurts when one lands on your head -through experience...

If you have a twin axle caravan I find it best to drive the caravan up a levelling ramp to the point where the wheel with the flat tyre is hanging over the end... No jack needed. Even easier if you have an awd mover.

If its work you need to do under the motorhome and not changing or removing a wheel I have previously just used levelling ramps and driven the motorhome up them. Put the Motorhome in gear and pull the handbrake on and you should have enough room to get under there safely.

Now that never occurred to me. I've got the ramps, unused for the last four years, in the back of the m/h. will give that a go.

Brilliant and thanks
