Hi Folks

Looking for some pointers although I realise the answer to many of these things is often "it depends!"

I have a combination of final salary/career average earnings pension with my employer of almost 20 years. I'm 44 so a while of retiring yet!

They contribute circa £700 & me £200 plus I added an extra £100 via AVC's a few years back which is through Prudential.

I've had a small pay rise this month so I'm looking to add another £100 to the AVC.

My question, is this decent option or should I be doing something else with the additional £200 I would be putting into the avc per month?

Only other savings are £100 per month into a S&S ISA which has done ok over the years + about a years salary in cash/ premium bonds.

Any thoughts are greatly welcome.

Cheers

imho, if you don't need it just the tax benefit makes AVCs hard to beat

Yep especially if you are on 40% tax.
