So its a nice day and I've spent it washing and polishing the Cerb to get it spruced up for the TT bike races which start here on the Isle of Man next week.

All going fine until I try and shut the boot - the lock mechanism moves but won't engage and if I press the boot release then I can hear (and feel) a relay mechanism clicking somewhere behind the rear numberplate so I don't think its the electrics.

Its done this before but it usually releases itself after a few pushes on the boot release. No luck today. Can anyone suggest a fix (before it rains)? I can't quite figure out how the mechanism works as its nearly impossible to see and get to.

Thanks,

Phil.

Could it be that the whole mechanism has come loose from the fibre glass? This happened to mine once, and a short term rememdy was to wedge something in there, but eventually i got it sorted by my friendly local TVR garage

Hmmm..... the only bit of the mechanism that I can see is some of pushrod behind the interior boot light and it seems fairly solid.

I've stuck the boot down with tape for the time being.

Ours does that periodically. Pressing the release button a few times normally cures it.

I've pulled the carpet back and removed the solenoid which was jammed and freed itself off as soon as I removed it.

Thanks for the replies - they were a huge help. Completely missed those threads on my search - should have tried "mechanism".
