Is it possible to fit a towbar to a B8 S4 Avant?

Hi All,

As per the title, is this possible and if so can anyone make any recommendations re type to fit and fitters in the south east area? I dont want to have to cut the rear valance or similar and detachable would be ideal. We only want to tow a small camping type trailer

Yes, although not fitted my S4 is listed as having 'towbar prep' in the spec.

I assume this is because it has a square 'hole' in the centre underside of the rear bumper where it would poke out and possibly the connections for the electrics are present?

Don't know if they all have the cutout though?

Deffo possible, I’ve got a Bosal fitted by a specialist in Norwich.
It is detachable and invisible to view when not in situ.
Does require a small cutout of the valance underneath, but you can’t see it.

B6 and B7 versions (and B9) aren’t type approved for towing so you won’t see a bar available for those models.
B8 and 8.5 are though, thus the listing on most towbar websites.

Happy to post a few pics if you want to see what install looks like. (Mines on an S5 sportback but same as the S4 saloon/avant)

The cutout in mine is quite large, it came from Audi this way;



But as above, can't be seen unless I've just run you over...

I often pass a place called GT Towing in Hatfield, fairly local..been around for years..
