Indy vs opc car purchase
Discussion
I’m after a 911...... just a cooking version, c2s 997 PDK most likely
What are the general thoughts of Opc vs Indy?
Solihull opc have a white 3.8 for about £37k, so i’d Get the warranty etc but the car has 74k on the clock
RSJ have a couple of similar spec cars available but with around 40k or 50k miles - price is more like £42k
What would you do? Higher mileage but OPC car or go for the Indy version..

The general consensus is to buy on condition. Higher mileage is not necessarily a bad thing.
But think the views on here will be quite split - some favour the OPC for the warranty whereas others happy to self-insure for anything that goes wrong. A £5k difference is quite big though and could cover a lot of potential work.
RSJ (and some other indy's) also throw in a 12 month warranty. I bought mine from RSJ 2.5yrs ago; the warranty is in house and it's clear the cars have gone through a lot of prep before resale; detailing etc. The service was also very good.

I'm a pussy so went with OPC. You pay through the nose for 'insurance'/warranty but for me the peace of mind is worth the extra few quid.
I hope nothing goes pop in my ownership, but Porsche the same as any performance car can throw the odd unexpected big bill. You choose to pay in advance just in case, or pocket the 'saving' but be ready to dig deep if the worst happens.

thank you all. agree, right car seems to be the way to go
i suspect i'm looking for a unicorn at the moment, 997 C4S in a decent colour with PDK and PSE for about £40k......
All about watching the market and being ready to pounce the minute one comes up.i suspect i'm looking for a unicorn at the moment, 997 C4S in a decent colour with PDK and PSE for about £40k......
But also be prepared to not fixate on certain options, as things like PSE can be retrofitted. The unicorn car might come up eventually, but not be a good buy if the condition is poor.
thoughts on this one?

no PSE but everything else looks to be there (i'm happy with PDK over Manual)

Happy to be corrected but it looks as if it doesn’t have the paddle shifts. It can be retrofitted but for some people that would be a dealer breaker. https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-4S...

Good spot, thank you
I’m a bit new to this, would be my first Porsche
997 gen 2 - what’s the ideal spec? I understand pse or an aftermarket solution, sport Chrono makes sense too. Anything else should be on there?
Looks like the cars at opc right now are all a bit the wrong spec. Full red leather interior, or no paddles, or wrong wheels etc

My 991 is coming from an OPC - because I wasn't finding the low mileage / high spec cars at any Indie's that I trusted. The one I've bought is literally the best I could find for the money! Fully warranted counts for a lot in my book - but it does come at a price ....I’m a bit new to this, would be my first Porsche

I think the ideal spec is different for everyone - but SC is a nice to have. Personally, I would say the Sport Design wheel is essential with PDK (less important for manuals). I would want the PSE on any 997, but I think it's a must on the GenII engine as the DFI's don't sound the same as the 1st Gens.
Of course if all you're finding is the "wrong" spec - perhaps you need to up the budget or compromise. Cheap for a reason rings true here. We're all fussy buggers and the good condition / rare / high spec / low mileage cars will always sell easily or for more money. Porsche owners tend to have decent disposable incomes and many buy on a whim and snap up the good ones. Well, I haven't yet met a "poor" Porsche owner ...... yet!

I'd be checking this one out:

Looks like a bit of a bargain and enough left in budget to sort the exhaust, about £1800 now for PSE from Porsche, or £300 for a G Pipe conversion.
