It is a 2 litre turbo petrol model.

7 months old and 14k miles and the indicator is saying it needs an oil change service.

Porsche website makes no mention of this service - only that it has a 2 year/20k miles service interval.

Porsche Cambridge say that car can test the oil and then indicates when it should be changed!

The only mention of this early oil change service is on the Porsche China website!

Anyone know anything about this? I'm happy to change oil if required but it all seems a bit vague.

Thanks
Piers.

My 2018/19 Cayenne has come up with the same the other day. Have sent them an email and awaiting a reply. As you say nothing mentioned on the service schedule or even the online pricing. It's only 11 months old and done 2.5k miles.

I have an 18 plate Macan GTS with 12k miles. Just under 10k I got a message to top up the oil, which I did. But it didn't mention an oil change or any kind of service.

My 18 plate Turbo PP is on 8500 miles,,,have already had to top the oil up twice. Heavy right foot perhaps....

The engine ECU is designed to track driving behaviour so definitely get an oil service.

If it was an Audi, you would have “long life” oil service that would “allow” you to drive for longer (miles and time) before getting the notice. I doubt Porsche have that option

My April '18 Cayenne S is now on 7,200 miles, showing an oil service not due for 10,500 more miles or until January 2020, then a first "proper" service due in April 2020. On that basis, an oil service at 14k doesn't sound unreasonable.

In the process of querying why it needs the oil change and the price. WRT price I've been told they "do not subscribe to Porsche GB’s service prices ". Somewhat surprising given they are a subsidiary of Porsche GB :O

I think you might be right... biggrin, although if I had a Turbo PP I might have a heavier right foot too.

So it looks like there's no wiggle room on this. A little galling given the low miles on my car. Any recommendations on OPC's around London that may shift on the price?

Mine doesn't subscribe to Porsches transparent pricing (despite being a subsidiary of Porsche GB). And in fact I can't see the oil service listed on the PDF :/

Do you make a lot of short trips? I don't know about the Macan specifically but some VAG group cars measure the moisture content in the oil and will accelerate the oil change interval accordingly. Generally make short trips when the oil is infrequently at full running temperature allows the moisture to accumulate.

As for the transparent pricing another PH member recently found out from P.UK that no dealers have committed to the pricing scheme! You can always use it as a negotiating point though. Few things in the automotive business are fixed price.

I make a mixture of short/medium trips, hence the low mileage.

I have chased it up with Porsche GB since my last post. Whilst I appreciate the indicated service intervals are variable, I don't think it's unreasonable for a customer to expect the guidance mileage to be within the ballpark. And should there be exceptions they should state them, otherwise the literature is highly misleading.

Porsche GB customer care consulted their techs and confirmed as you say short trips can accelerate the degradation of the oil. But admitted it's highly unusual for a car to require an oil service at such low mileage. As such they've asked me to book it in with my OPC for inspection. With my previous cars I've never had an issue, for example my BMW (which also had variable servicing) was always pretty much bang on 2 years.

WRT transparent pricing, what I find farcical is my OPC is part of Porsche Retail Group, a subsidiary of Porsche GB. Yet they don't subscribe to the transparent pricing published by Porsche GB.

It's not directly applicable to my case anyway, as this interim oil service isn't even listed on the service schedule/pricing :/ So not sure why they mentioned Porsche GB's transparent pricing.

OK I spoke with an ex-Lotus engineer friend of mine. He reckons that with a new engine that has done 14k miles in 7 months he would change the oil. So I've had a local specialist buy the filter from Porsche and do the oil change. Cost £160.

Just fYI the 14k miles were mainly long journeys. I'm hoping that now it will revert to the advertised/stated higher mileage service interval.
