Anyone recommend a good vegan protein? I see a few advertised on my protein etc but would like a recommendation rather than blindly buy. Any recommendations much appreciated

It’s protein extracted from plants rather than the usual dairy.

My brother uses the my protein blend and likes it.

True enough. There's a couple in my street that are vegan and treat protein like it's the spawn of the devil, because red meat. Never really thought much about it because they're a bit loopy but as you say, you can get protein from other foods.

Always found their stuff decent to be fair. Only stopped consuming dairy a few months ago hence my question.

My protein is pretty much the best value out there, plus it's a trusted brand that always fairs well in testing.

I did read a study recently that protein exclusively from plant based sources is not utilised as well as animal based sources, and you need to consume approximately 20% more to even them up.

Don't get Pea protein BTW- it's fking awful in every possible respect!

I've got the bulk powders complete vegan protein one.
Chocolate peanut, it tastes how I'd expect it but smells worse than it tastes (just a very strong peanut smell), just disappointing without milk laugh
Used to blend milk, chocolate whey and peanut butter together before finding out about my dairy intolerance.

Silly question perhaps, but why not just eat a balanced diet containing protein instead of adding supplements made from who knows what?

I do eat a pretty balanced diet, I think, but protein powders are a quick and easy way to supplement this diet. I only use protein powder directly after a workout as a quick, simple way to get enough protein into my body to compensate in some way for the damage done to my muscles.

And the reason I asked for advice is that I do not want to just use powder made from 'who knows what'.

If you are asking why I don't eat meat or dairy, it is a personal, moral and ethical decision. I do not have a problem with others who do, I simply choose not to and have to adapt to any dietary shortfall that may crop up as a result.

The protein is good, very nutty, not too sweet..i.mix it with soya/oat or coconut milk and frozen raspberries and pineapples. Lovely.
