Nurburgring Bank Holiday Weekend
Discussion
It had been a year since I last went so a dozen of us planned (Including Piginawig on here) for this bank holiday weekend including the Carfreitag Friday. We left Thursday 5am, was on the shuttle by 7am and started our ride. As there were alot of us we went in 2 groups within about 40 mins of each other. They found I think the only decent route around Brussels as for me that place is boring as it comes. I had a tantrum and asked to get off the motorway early and we ended up going through the city centre which was rammed and hot but after this it just got better and better
I've said this before but anyone who enjoys a good ride get yourself on something like this. We all have intercoms and its such a laugh even when things go wrong (and they always do)
Anyways I set off with my trusty Kriegga US20 which is just about enough for 4 days in my opinion and a couple flags to get everyone laughing. These flags only lasted to Calais unfortunately as despite my best gaffa tape efforts 100+ is no good for £3.99 ebay special flags

However my brother got these which had us laughing so much throughout the trip. We would put on the bikes and see how long the other guy noticed. I managed to ride round all of the nurburgring entrance (not track) and to the GP circuit on my helmet which made a few of the locals laugh, take pictures and generally point. Its not everyones humour but mine is terrible so anything like this has me in tears

We stopped a couple times to fuel and stretch the legs but did find a nice 'Pit Stop' in Brussels. It was much needed and it was pleasing to see the 'Ohlins' sticker so proudly presented throughout the tour on his KTM

This was our final stop before getting to the legendary Roy and Kims which again from PH I stayed at 3 years ago and have ever since
I managed to get a quick lap 30 mins before it closed for the evening. Roy's Ducati 996/1098 special is in the backgound along with Billy (Nurburgring Biker Blog) although nobody rode with him this year due to his work getting in the way

I only did a couple laps on track total. Its strange you get there but the ring isn't the real reason you go, its the roads around the ring and atmosphere. I felt a bit rusty but having not been for a year and only now having done 9 total laps I didnt expect too much

That evening we mainly got drunk and ate way too much then got up early for some decent rides. I never stop to take a decent picture and I'm the same with videos. I just plonk it on and ride

This word makes me laugh every time...

We were so lucky with the weather with it being at points almost too hot in the bike kit but views of this and roads to match was just perfect

There was alot of pictures taken like this too but I'll blame piginawig for that one

That night we went to 'The Crown' a local English pub that is hugely popular. I got hammered and think by the time I got in people were not long after getting ready to ride so I was grumpy Birky for the next few hours
Still all the more reason to go on track surely? And with cars!!
https://youtu.be/mtVxVDal7-o on my second session. I did 3 in the end and killed my rear tyre. Annoyingly I had SD card/battery issues with the Garmin so even though I recorded all 3 I only got snippets from the second one
Piginawig did a session too and had a great tear up on his bus...sorry I mean KTM and a new M4
I enjoyed (having never done the GP track before) this more than the 'ring. I learnt it very quickly and it was not quite as 'mad' in my opinion. I absolutely loved seeing the car strengthen vs the bikes and although not on this session I was out with some very capable cars. One session had a KTM X-Bow but it was only quick on the corners tbh

There were many YouTubers and Vloggers including Shmee but I missed getting on track with him

And after the Saturday we got down the pub again, did another late one before getting ready to do a scenic route all the way home Sunday. I'll add some more pictures and I'm sure Piginawig has a few to add. My brothers bike panniers flew off after a bungee came loose. This happened right in front of me and fortunately Piginawig managed to pick them up but they were trash so had to be binned. I managed to run out of fuel twice which was quite amusing. Lesson learnt never ride on reserve more than 8 miles when on track or 20 miles on road!
I could go on but will finish it there, it was amazing, I had MASSIVE holiday blues after and enjoyed the best 1200 miles for a long long time. The company and weather was great and we all got back in one piece!

I watched the video of you on the GP track at the weekend, looks like you were slicing your way though the traffic nicely!
I have driven the ring in a car, but would be wary of doing it on a bike with more limited visibility of faster machinery approaching at a rate of knots...
How did you find it?
