Rear suspension bolts
Discussion
Hi, I'm in the process of changing the rear shock absorbers on my 400SE. I thought I would change the lower bolts at the same time, but from what I've read on the forums and looking at TVR parts site it looks like the bolts should be 1/2" UNF. The bolts I have taken out look like 3/4" UNC, is this correct? Can anyone confirm what size/thread they should be?
I just did mine to get the hub off. I think you'll find that the hex head (and nut) is 3/4" or 19mm AF but the shank of the bolt is 1/2" or 12.5mm.
As I recall the shock one and one immediately in front are UNC but it's the tie-bar one that's UNF, although this detail isn't critical if you use matching nuts.
Torque? F-tight but jack up suspension level first.

I did mine 18 moths ago and changed every nut and bolt.i went to my local nut and molt supplier here in Adelaide Australia with samples, got high tensile unf.
did them very tight,

If you think about what a shocker absorber bolt does there is absolutely no need to wrench them up mega tight. They are large bolts to resist the forces trying to shear or bend them, there is virtually no force acting upon the thread trying, in effect, to pull the nut off.
imho
