996 Porsche Classic Service & Tonbridge Porsche
Discussion
Called up Tonbridge Porsche to chase some history on a car im looking at buying and the lady on the phone (who was excellent btw) confirmed a few services it had had there, but then also said that the 996 now qualifies for the Porsche Classic servicing.
In short, a minor is about £350 (about £100 more than an indy) but you get a load of other bits thrown in as well inc 4 washes and vaccums per year (got to be worth £15 each there?), some porsche classic number plate holders, discount on parts etc.
She also said when/if i buy the car, bring it over to them and a tech guy will put it on a ramp for me and walk me through the car.
Was really impressed with her.
On the way home i went past Porsche South London so popped in to have a chat, guy there seemed pretty clueless re the porsche classic service and said it needed an £870 service ... was a bit gutted with the customer service there as in the past when i been in there they been pretty decent.

Tonbridge used to be the most convenient OPC for me until South London opened up and which is just 5 minutes away. I wasn't overly impressed with Tonbridge sales and ended up buying elsewhere but lots of people speak highly of their service side. My CGTS will be going to South London for its major service in June. Try to speak to Keith there as he seems to be good.
Just anecdotally when I first purchased my CGTS, not from South London, I took it there for some minor work which was missed by the supplying OPC and Keith showed me round their servicing area and there was a blue 996 cab in there and I commented on them servicing older cars as well.
Think it was Keith i met yesterday (asian gent in servicing?)
I might pop back and ask if they can match the classic servicing pricing as be far more convenient!
I originally went in there to buy a 718 last October, but couldnt spec a manual so gave up on the idea, but like you i was given a tour of the workshops etc and was quite impressed with it all.

Yes that sounds like Keith. I also test drove a 718 CGTS there, before buying a 981 CGTS at another OPC, and their sales side was good too.
It's worth asking whether they will price match as I did get a quote for my CGTS major service beforehand and it appears to be in the ballpark of other OPCs so happy with that. Also worth mentioning if you're a PCGB member as you should get 10% off.
I agree on the convenience factor being high if you're local to South London OPC but if Tonbridge do the right job at the right price then there are plenty worse places to waste some time if you can get to Tunbridge Wells.

Have not booked in yet but I recently got a competitive price of £336 for a major service on my '01 Boxster S. So I would say South London do offer reduced price servicing on the older stuff, although they may not call it 'classic service', don't know. Handy for me as I'm also 5 mins away!
