part number for bonnet release cable on '97 Chimp

U0422 and it fits the Griffith and the Tuscan too

Thanks I take it thats the TVR part number - do you know what the actual part is ? I saw somewhere else it's from a Series 1 Landrover discovery - is that correct ?

That's the TVR part number. I don't know where its from, but couldn't you take the old cable out and see if there are any numbers on it and/or take it down to your local Land Rover dealer? Dismantlers like Bell Hill or Douglas Valley might have used ones in stock.

I used a Series one Discovery cable on mine when my Tiv dealer was out of stock - fitted perfectly.

That's what I used as well as the TVR dealer was out of stock (and had been for months!). It cost less than a tenner and they got it within 2 days. It had to be cut down to size. The cable outer is made of plastic unlike the original which had a spiral metal outer. The new one hasn't melted yet even though it is only a few inches above the manifold.

Forgot about cutting it down , mine's been on a few years now but its still ok

The LR part number that I used was mxc6324. This is available from lots of LR outlets including main dealers although it might take a couple of days.

OK, one last dumb question - got cable, shortened it and fitted it - works a treat.... but how do I stop the end of the cable sleeve popping out of the retainer that holds it on the latch - it looks like it should be crimped but I'm worried about crushing the sleeve.... or does it just push fit in and stay there ?

Problem solved - just a gentle crimp and that stopped it slipping. Thanks for everyones help and advice. I shall now be opening and shutting my bonnet all weekend - why ? Because I can

Some solderless brake/clutch cable nipples from a m/bike shop are useful spares to carry, ie the pinch screw type... doors/throttle/bonnet.
