New Vantages for sale
Discussion
I think you are right.......i tried to get a deal on one a month or so ago but couldn't get the deal i would have been happy with.
The cars i was looking at have dropped £5k in the last few weeks but are still not shifting......there currently is a £4k contribution on new orders at the moment but i think that will definitely have to improve to get any significant interest.......the situation seems similar to when the DB11 was launched and there seemed to be a glut of launch models available which didn't move as fast as Aston had hoped.......

It all feels very much like the scenario with the DB11. Almost as if the launch product, dare I say it, was not good enough. Some on here have mentioned that their new Vantages have already been back to AM for “updates” and once again we seem to have confusion over the AMR branding. Does having a manual gearbox make the car an AMR product? I have to admit, I find it rather bewildering the way this car has been launched and received. If the controversial looks get tweaked with the manual version, the values of the early cars will fall even further. I really do hope that in a year or two from now, when the car is fully developed, things will change. Let’s hope so. It’s sad to see so much stock sitting around and depreciating so quickly. A lot of people may well believe that. I prefer to speak my mind.
Shame really, I always fancied an Aston.
I tend to speak my mind too. And my mind tells me your latter statement isn’t true. Just one look at your garage says you’ve had plenty of time to buy an Aston if you wanted oneShame really, I always fancied an Aston.
So I think you’ve just come on to this forum to be annoying
Jog on
Why on earth are you lot so touchy?
I said I always fancied an Aston and I did, still do but not one of the new ‘fish face’ types.
I’ve been a Jaguar fan but they have their engines all wrong imo. At least I could say that on the Jaguar forum without everyone getting so defensive.

Does anyone think AM will change the front of the cars any time soon?

If we’re defensive it’s because we’ve got :
1. Approximately 50 pages (literally) in two threads of people saying “we don’t like the front of the new Vantage”. Most people dont (me included). But It’s got really boring with people coming on to the forum and their sole contribution is “I dont like the front of the new Vantage”. Sorry you’re probably not to know that unless you’ve looked down the timeline a bit
2. It’s a PH forum. I get that. But it’s really tedious having people come on just to troll (and there are a few regulars who do so). I’ll be the first to apologise if that’s not your intention. But if you have an interest in Aston Martins then post questions, thoughts, photos whatever. Don’t make your one and only post in the forum be “I don’t like X”.

Sorry forgot to answer your question.
I personally would be surprised if AML changed the front end of the Vantage anytime soon. Albeit I’m a bit curious as to what the “AMR” version will entail (surely not just a manual option?”). It doesn’t sound like suspension changes are needed. And it may be that upping the power isn’t allowed by the terms of the AMG contract
So maybe that just leaves the option of cosmetic/aero changes? But I doubt anything radical- I think AML really do want the Vantage to look different even if that jars with those of us used to looking at the previous (beautiful) model

Have a meet and greet with Marek on Monday for a design talk Rob... I shall not ignore the elephant in the room - especially given that this is not hating as we most of us love the marque, adore our Astons and really like the looks of the new Volantes and the DBS...
Would be fascinated to hear whether Marek et al recognise there might be an issue. or whether they feel we just need more time to get used to itRobDown said:

AP replied to a question about the new Vantage styling, during the 2018 Results investor meeting. That video can be viewed on the AML website.
I posted the following last Tuesday.
Q. ref. the new Vantage. "... doesn't quite have market traction, what can you do to relaunch, reposition or restyle?"
AP replied: "We do see different speeds of adoption, but we seem to have hit the sweet spot particularly with the lease price point in the US. We don't see the style of the car being an issue, we see it as a strength".
He then spoke about the big price jump that previous model owners faced when moving to the new model, but will use the (lease) lessons from the US in Europe, where the take up has been softer.
So why are there so many examples for sale and proving difficult to shift......is it entirely down to the looks or does the price come into it?
The DB11 launch cars seemed to hang around as well but in my opinion they look stunning..i personally like the new vantage look and the only reason i
didn't pull the trigger so far is the figures didn't work for me.....at the moment

The official results say sales have been good. Albeit it’s not clear how many of the sales have been to dealers for stock rather than customer orders. Inevitably though, like the DB11 there must be some of that going on; people expect to be able to see the new car when they go into a dealership.
Thereafter could be a number of factors that are reducing demand:
1. The car market generally is slow pretty much everywhere. Eg look at Porsche sales. Lots of different factors behind that, it’s a thread in itself
2. Pricing. There’s been a huge amount of inflation in car pricing in recent years (low interest rates and the rise of buyers focused solely on monthly payments have been a bonanza for manufacturers). AML have played this game as much as everyone else; it’s one reason why the business has turned profitable finally. But combined with 1 above the latest price rise isn’t sticking, so we’ve got lots of discounting going on
3. Other factors affecting demand. Looks could clearly be one factor. So could the knowledge that an AMR version is likely and soon. And on this forum no doubt some are waiting for a manual.
4. Production is also high. APs hope though was that higher production could be countered by moving the cars into different segments (the Vantage is not meant to appeal to traditional Aston buyers; that’s what the DB11/DBSS are for)
I’ve got no crystal ball, so no idea where it goes from here. Maybe once the AMR version is out (whatever changes that brings) the picture will change again. And of course as discussed elsewhere, the DBX is absolutely crucial now for AML. Management could be forgiven for focusing on that over the next 3-4 month rather than Vantage

I don't get Palmer...does he understand marketing 101 or not? "The market is always right"....Ultimately the market determines what the new vantage is worth and if attractive...not Palmer. The new vantage is overpriced and not attractive to 50% of his customers and he doesn't get it. The hardest thing for most CEO's is to admit they made a mistake and change course. AM stock is down 50% since IPO and his problems are just beginning if his cash cow is struggling with sales...Either Palmer gets it soon or his replacement will...
I really want AM to succeed but....I'm happy to keep my 2013 vantage until they see the light to redesign and offer more for the price of admission for me to upgrade...All the best Andy...
