Hi,

The driver's side door latch on the above car has gone quite rusty so I bought a new one on eBay and will fit it this week.

My question is - when I undo the bolts holding it in place, will a nut drop down inside the body of the car (impossible to then recover it) or do the bolts screw into a fixed thread behind the latch?

I probably haven't explained this well but I'd be grateful for any help!

Thanks - photo attached,

Matt

Nope is the answer !!

Not sure how the 'nut' is secured onto the door frame, but mine stayed in place as I had exactly the same problem.

That's great - thanks so much - saves a nervous removal!

The two securing nuts are mounted on a plate (1), which in turn is loosely held in place by a cage, this is usually spot welded to the door frame.

Wonderful - thanks a lot - I think that means I have no fear of anything falling down inside when I undo the bolts?!
