Deciding between the 2 door and 4 door, google is suggesting they're both 4640mm.

It'll mainly be just me, the only time I need space is for long but fairly basic camping trips in Europe. Two people plus light camping gear.

What's the difference in internal volume between the coupe and Grand Coupe.

Does the GC hatchback add more space or just make access easier? Whats the driving dynamics like.

I'm leaning towards the coupe, mainly because it looks smaller and so would fare better on narrow European roads. And if I must I could put a roof box on.

Thanks

All the specs I have seen indicate they are the same length.
GC is 5mm taller.
Does the Coupe have a boot rather than a hatch?
Is the Coupe a 4 seater only?

I have a GC and its very versatile. I had an E91 previously and the GC is better packaged. More passenger and boot space than my Touring. Not as much headroom in the boot for the dog though.
Dynamics are an order of magnitude better than the E91 (both cars on 18's).
Does sometimes feel a bit nervous on rough roads at stupid speeds though. Standard Sport suspension.

The 440 has settled into an economical cruiser - fuel consumption is as good as the 335d.....
Until I put the caravan on the back when it drops to 15mpg 😰 (or less)

Coupe for looks. Gran Coupe for everything else!

I have the slight feeling that having 4 doors as opposed to 2 might affect driving dynamics, maybe the chassis is not as stiff as the 2dr variant, in a similar fashion to how there is less stiffness in the chassis of a convertible compared to a coupé. Haven't seen anything to confirm this however.

Could weigh ever so slightly more simply because of more metal, but nothing significant.

Thanks AlwynMike, yes the coupe is boot only and has two rear seats. Good to know the dimensions are the same which should mean they have the same volume.

I'm planning to fit ACS springs to see if that would make the ride more planted. I've driven a Xdrive 430d which was jumpy at 50+mph. No idea if thats the same with RWD only.

Thanks

Gran Coupe has seats that fold down by default, whereas I’m not sure if the Coupe does. This might be a consideration if camping gear is getting stowed.

I’ve just put a deposit on a delivery mileage 430d GC, picking up in a fortnight so looking forward to getting back to BMW.

Thanks, I'll check if the seat folds on the coupe. And yay on the new BMW 430d GC - good choice.

Doesn’t the BMW configurator give full dimension if your not 100% on Google’s other site/s’ dimensions?
Coupe does have folding seats as standard. There might be a different way of split/ folding them that’s an extra , but they do fold. I checked for myself.
I like the wide opening front doors of a coupe , otherwise the Grand has the hatch for practicability.

I've been looking at stock new cars and hadn't thought about the configurator. Thank you.

I think that clears up my question. The reason I thought the GC was longer was the coupe lacking space for rear doors.

Until you HAVE to use a multi storey car park or a single garage.
Those of us with a more rounded physique may struggle 😊
