New Vantage - Manual !
Discussion
I guess this long awaited variant deserves it`s own thread, especially now people have had a chance to get used to the radical design departure AM originally took with the new Vantage.
A few "facts" which are detailed in the Pistonheads article- 7 speed dog-leg, 95kg lighter, 0.3 seconds slower to 100km/h (62mph), Carbon Discs (on the AMR version at least), and after the 200 AMR versions are sold out, available on the regular model as an option.
Interesting gills on the side, and the bonnet grills looking a bit like finlets.
For me this is the best looking version I have seen come from Gaydon, and the AMR stripe combined with the bonnet grills does wonders for the otherwise expansive appearance of the bonnet. On Instagram I joked about it just needing the 5.2 now, but if that ever happened I imagine it would do sales no harm!
What do you think folks?

AMR colour scheme works very well on the car . Not sure why they are confusing the message with having a few 59 badges cars at the end if the run when the LM Anniversary has been covered by the DBS59. Perhaps a few more horses would have been nice for this model - would have differentiated it nicely from a standard manual Vantage . Assume no paddleshift AMRs then or did I miss that ? With the new Roadster variant due hopefully towards the end of the year very interesting times for the model .

There's some nice touches on it; the louvered bonnet vents I'd like to see a better photo of (the look like a downsized version of the DBSS vents from the press shots). I believe the louvered carbon side gills are available on the regular Vantage as an option already.
Overall, it hits the spot and should be a winner among driving enthusiasts - losing 95kg out of an already poised and brilliant chassis wont do any harm. I imagine it'll be a riot to drive, the regular car's already brilliant.

It is starting to look better. The stripe and the vents definitely help. I’m not sure why there is a need for the 59 models though. Also seems a bit strange to make everyone wait a year before it becomes available on the standard model. Great news that the initial run of 200 is sold out, but it will be interesting to see what the take up for the manual is going forward. The younger buyers that AP keeps telling us are the target audience probably prefer paddles and an auto. Time will tell I guess. Perhaps some of the older crowd on here have been holding out for this version? As I said in one of the other threads, I think that in a year or two from now, as the car develops, further derivatives will continue to make this car more enticing.

I think the car itself is great - no criticism of any nature whatsoever of the actual product
But I have a question
We've known about the LSD having to come with the manual box for at least 12 months - https://www.pistonheads.com/news/driven/driven-ast...
So if someone orders a non-AMR manual vantage next year as per the article, they will definitely get the manual box & LSD and presumably, the option of carbon brakes. They appear to be the sole contributors to the weight loss. So what will be the weight, mechanical or performance differences between this new AMR and a non-AMR vantage with a manual box and ceramic brake option ticked next year ?
What really upsets me about the handling of the AMR sub brand is the factory have repeatedly gone out of their way to state AMR road cars will never be reduced to trim specials, however Rapide AMR is the only car which fits that self declared brief.
And before anyone mentions DB11 AMR, every mechanical upgrade on that car was brought out on the 'lesser', cheaper V8 DB11 first, with the exception of the power bump
I hope for the brand I'm wrong, that marketing know better and customers in general are less cynical than me
EDIT: Apologies, it would appear others are making similar comments in the other thread !

"Dry weight – 1499kg"
Given the absurd gap between the quoted dry weight of 1530 kg on the standard Vantage and its actual fuelled weight of ca. 1700 kg one can assume that the weight saving on the Vantage AMR will be much less than 95 kg.
A whopping price tag of € 184,995 over here.
The website refers to regular/non-AMR vantage as having 'minimum dry weight inclusive of lightweight options' as being 1,530kg. So what is the quoted dry weight without lightweight options I wonder ?Given the absurd gap between the quoted dry weight of 1530 kg on the standard Vantage and its actual fuelled weight of ca. 1700 kg one can assume that the weight saving on the Vantage AMR will be much less than 95 kg.

To be fair, I'm sure that the gearbox and brakes will reduce weight for AMR. Not because it's an AMR of course. Just because it's manual and has carbon brakes
But aston have huge form here. They regularly declared weight savings on last gen vantage derivatives that when you delved into the details, consisted solely of quoting one with and one without available options on both - lightweight seats was a favourite
