What is the street legal version with lights please?
The full title would be very useful.
CR450L? There seems to be many variants.

What do you want it for?
CRF450l, I found it pretty crap at most things it’s designed for, on road it was no better than my KTM EXCf 350, of road it was far worse, horrible on/off feel to the throttle at slow speeds.
Not good for a off-road/enduro/ green lane bike as sometimes you need to go slow to get over things

well you have the CRF---L which are very soft, road oriented bikes.

Then you have a choice of a road registered CRF---X which are the enduro bike (I've had a CRF250X) - these have electric start and lights, bigger tanks and lights. Oh and a prop stand. Detuned.

Or you could get yourself a CRF---R which is the full on motocross version which are a bit hardcore and are pretty high maintainance. They don't come road registered, no lights, mirrors, kick start only, 5 speed, small tank etc. I had one with lights (er, sort of) and a reg plate (er, sort of) as a supermoto. It was a bit mad, and whenever I went anywhere I had to find a wall to lean it against, and take a massive fking lock, as when I came back it would be surrounded by horrible council house people.

I'd go for an X given the choice again. With a big lock. You will not be able to get your head around how many awful scum they can attract.

Yes, the X is what you want of the various models available, you can do pretty much anything on them, road transits, green lanes, endure / mx practice, and many of us race them pretty successfully too.
There's stuff that's better at some of it, but it is one of the best all rounders out there. And it took a huge effort and many years with trick FI powered specials for Kawasaki to beat the X model on carbs on in the Baja 1000, after (I think) 9 consecutive victories. So reliability is well proven.
Set up right, punchier off the bottom end than the WR yams, and they run well, will rip your arms out!! More power than you'll ever need realistically.

I want it as a low mileage fun bike to just zap about on. I tried a Duke 690 and liked it a lot but want something similar in performance but lighter.
