yes agree about the back drops and the acting. In fact its the acting by our two young Jedi that lets the side down IMO. Not sure why because in other films they ar equite good.
Lord sidious plaid his part well though I thought.
and Yes the story tied in quite well.
Funny with all there medical breakthroughs like artificial hands etc that they don't scan newly pregnant women isnt it
Perhaps with a second viewing I might apreciate it more. will wait until its out on DVD though.

I've always been a huge Star Wars fan but Phantom Menace and, to a lesser extent, Clones seem to me like a cynical money making ploy. (Yeah I know, all film making is about the readies)
Sith was much better paced, although Anikin's acting is so wooden. His reason for chosing the dark side was so flimsy - No spoilers for those that haven't yet seen it.
He just can't act IMO.
Has anybody seen that clip of 24 that Sky use to advertise the programme. Jack Bauer (sp?) is sitting in his truck. He's had a cr@ppy day and things have got on top of him. There is more acting in that 20 seconds than the whole of Anikin's performance.

I really think you are reading too much into that scene.
The comment he made was a direct reference to Phantom Menance when he talks about the idea of a dictatorship being the way forward with Padme in the meadows of Naboo.

Lucas has made it clear it relates to the current US political situation.
George Lucas has made comments that whether you prefer the new or old star wars depends on what generation you are from.
Well guess what Lucas my sister is 11 years younger than me and she prefers the old ones.
I think only the current under 10's might prefer the new ones and I am even dubious about that.
As for the movie, critics have given it a hammering and I can see why wooden acting particularly by the man it all depends on , the soon to be Darth Vader, but I still loved it and thought it better than Attack of the Clones.

I had to do my father's duty and take junior.b to see it yesterday.
Have to admit it was marginally better than 1 & 2 but I thought it was a terrible film. The problem definitely IS the acting and the dialogue. The story line is actually pretty good but when its delivered devoid of emotion, you just don't care. So then all you have left is lasers and stuff and, lets be honest, there is just way, way too much eye candy. Eye candy is good, but when there's just so much of it it becomes wallpaper its impact is lost.
I started counting how many toys would be hitting the shops soon. I got bored after about 45.
"Highlights" for me;
Yoda's dialogue. Too many times change words around in sentence very annoying it is. I nearly laughed out loud when he leaves Chewbacca and "the other wookie" and says "Miss you.....I will". I thought he was going to say "Miss you already"
The birth scene. Words fail me on just how utterly embarassing that was. Did someone forget to write it and, realising the mistake the actors had to improvise it?

Doctor "Its a boy"
Padme "Luke"
Padme "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggh"
Doctor "Its a girl"
Padme "Leia......i know there's good in him.....croak...."

Did anyone else burst out laughing when Harry Enfield's Dirty Old Man appeared (when the Sith lord was getting killed by his own lasers)?
The acting was terrible from the Anakin & Portman's character. Ewan was good tho (the Sith Lord wasn't that great).
Whilst the plot was good, the dialogue was abismal in the middle (the whole love scene crap again).
The action was fantastic, but as pointed out, maybe a little too fantastic - the final fight seemed to be using very quick frame rates to stop the user seeing the battle itself (i.e. the flashes were too fast).
The CGI for the most part was good (all the action sets), but why on earth don't they just build the sodding set? It's painfully obvious that most of the indoor scenes were acted in front of a blue-screen as you could see bad textures and lighting everywhere!
It seemed too long in the middle, to the extent where a mate fell asleep.
The end was too bitty with so many false endings and almosts but there's another bit to tell. The induvidual endings were pants as well (as mentioned the birth scene)...
It gave too much away for a lot of people (I know plenty of people who haven't seen the originals so planned to do so in chronological order i.e. start watching them now). The ending of episode 3 destroys it for them (whilst admitadly making it for the fans).
Why did the robot cough?
Why introduce characters that probably shouldn't have been - the Wookies & Chewbacca, R2D2 & C3P0? By that logic why wasn't a young Harrison Ford included?

I'm not disliking the film, indeed I loved all the action bits and enjoyed picking up the little bits and pieces Lucas wanted you to, but the moment you raise your voice to say "I didn't like this", you get shot down by others who say "you only say that because it's popular to do so". The same happened with LOTR (which as movies, suck IMO surprisingly for similar reasons to Star Wars) as well.

I assume the robot coughed because he was a cyborg and had a heart and presumably lungs as well etc. There's nothing to keep the organs warm and stop him getting a cold.
It's well known (amongst Star Wars fans) that the Wookie homeworld of Kashyyk was wiped out by the Empire at the end of the clone wars and Chewbacca is two hundred years old. Han would have been about ten and his character couldn't have been feasibly included in the story line.

I'm not sure if the coughing bit is correct. I thought it was a bit silly at first but that's just what I figured. It's cold in space
