....fat? If pub landlords stop serving people who are too drunk, why not stop people eating fast food if people are too fat?

They stop people drinking too much when percieved there is a risk of antisocial behavior, or being so drunk that if they went outside they could be hit by a car - not because its bad for their health

You can refuse service for anything. You dont have to give a reason. Thats already law.

If we stop serving people because they're drunk can we stop threads from being posted because they're stupid?

This. There are certain exemptions, but these are exceptions to the rule. I believe this was upheld with that Northern Ireland bakers case. Sure they're homophobic scroats but they didn't break the law.

However few bars will refuse to serve you just for being drunk. If they did bars would be going out of business faster than they currently are. If you're refused service at an establishment it's usually for another reason, I.E. you're being angry/belligerent and they're worried you'll become violent or you've been sick (or the door bh just doesn't like you, never encountered that in the UK, but commonplace in Oz).

It's actually illegal to serve someone who is drunk.

I didn't say it wasn't.. I said you'll still get served.

Drunk is the excuse used because you don't want your staff hit for telling an arrogant tt they're being an arrogant tt.

I used to work in a bar at university and were told in explicit terms that we (and the license holder) could be prosecuted if someone died from alcohol poisoning who we had served/continued to serve despite them being visibly very drunk.

It was always a judgement call when you had someone who was very drunk but normally their friends would be on your side if you thought they were too drunk.

Would't try turning down a gay couple if you're a B n' B owner!

Worked well enough for that bakery in Northern Ireland (IIRC).

But if you had more than two brain cells you would find a better excuse.
